now that I got my own blog and an audience, I won’t stop. lol.
so I watched Cadillac Records tonight and honestly it was one of the better films I have seen in a long time. I’ve walked out of a lot of movies this year…. having a professional music background I was immediately intrigued by this film and obviously having a film background makes me look at movies a lot different than the average movie goer. Anyways, Jeffrey Wright has been one of my favorite actors since he played Jean Michel Basquiat in Basquiat. He even killed it in the remake of Shaft. But he did his thing in Cadillac Records. Crazy. Also, f.y.i. I went to high school with Adrian Brody and we had english together…. we became close friends and still keep in touch randomly to this day. when we were 14, he was on the Carol Burnett show and moved here from NYC. I never ever thought he’d win an oscar, but damn. Dope…. also my homey Gabrielle Union had a small role, but enough of the name drops, Movie was solid all around. I loved seeing the fresh to death wardrobes. I loved the 40’s to 60’s fits. man, they were dressed head to toe something fierce. A lot of not just black history being dropped, but real knowledge of the birth of true Rock and Roll in this film. Go peep it, I give it 2 guns up. But you could wait for the bluray DVD
I never drink on a sunday, but we had time to kill…. so me and a friend, hit the Whisper Lounge before the movie for a Patron and Sprite, then I admired the Xmas tree @ the Grove. I still love that place.
After the movie, I get home to meet my bros Jonas & TK and see a BBM from Ahmad saying meet him @ Area and Coco Deville, so we head up there and get dumb. Only dudes who can get me out the house on a sunday night and pop shit. We got dumb though. I was wearing the same sweatshirt 2 nights in a row, not thinking I was going out. lol
p.s. ahmad, you are past animal status, you are a wooly mammoth! If I had your bread, I’d throw mines all away, I’d throw it all over La Cienega.
p.s.s. have a safe flight Joney, I do NOT wish I was with you in NYC homes. you know I’m allergic to anything below 60 degrees! Got a big week and I’m talking about a moonwalker
