A$AP YAMS REMEMBERED IN A$AP FERG’S CUSTOM ‘YAMBORGHINI’ CHAIN
Everyone knows that A$AP Yams was an influential cornerstone of the modern rap industry. The founding member and producer of A$AP Mob devastated the community with his passing in 2015. When his longtime friend, A$AP Ferg, asked IF & Co. to create a chain commemorating the two-year anniversary of Yams’ death, we knew we had to make a piece that was as legendary as the man himself.
A$AP Ferg changed the game with his debut album, Trap Lord, in 2013. The Harlem-born hustler released iconic songs like “Shabba” and “Work” which gained a lot of attention from the hip hop community. Ferg won the title of BET Hip Hop Award’s Rookie of the Year in 2013. He followed up his debut album with last year’s Always Strive and Prosper which brought us hits like “New Level” featuring Future and “Let it Bang” featuring Schoolboy Q. In addition to his rap career, Ferg has dabbled with fashion design and paintings of which Yams has often been the subject.
We created Ferg's custom ‘Yamborghini’ pendant and chain back in January in commemoration of the two-year anniversary of Yams’ passing. The pendant was designed to parody the classic Lamborghini logo and features a bull caricature whose face is complete with A$AP Yams’ iconic cross tattoo. In honor of the Yammy Gang, this custom piece was hand-crafted from 14 karat white gold and is fully iced with hand set diamonds that weigh in at an approximate 60 carats. The piece took us about a month to carefully construct a nd detail at our Los Angeles headquarters. Our very own Ben Baller delivered the piece to A$AP Ferg just in time for him to rock at A$AP Mob’s sold-out January Yams Day concert too.
