We are leading all the other major cities across the U.S. in participation rate (68%) and have already surpassed our 2000 mark! BUT, Nonetheless, LA is falling behind the national (72%) and state (71%) average. Additionally, California is predicted to lose a congressional seat for the first time in its history. We can’t afford to let this happen. CALIFORNIA/LOS ANGELES still needs your support in encouraging other residents to get counted.
Starting May 1-July 10, Census enumerators will be visiting homes that didn’t return the census forms. the LA Mayor Villaraigosa’s office has already begun an aggressive field campaign that will target the lowest participating
neighborhoods (Koreatown/Central City/Hollywood/Silverlake/Echo Park/South LA/Boyle Heights) to encourage participation. Additionally, we are promoting the Census hotlines for people to call in their information directly to the Census Bureau.
PLEASE GET COUNTED!
MY FELLOW KOREATOWN AND LOS ANGELES RESIDENTS, THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT MESSAGE ON MY BLOG OUT OF THE FEW HUNDRED ENTRIES! PLEASE SUPPORT OUR CITY/STATE! IT’S CRUCIAL!
